March 20 brings the first day of spring. Now that temperatures are warming up and the sun is shining more, many people tackle spring cleaning. Spring cleaning is very common for your home or business, but today we are going to tackle spring cleaning for your car. Depending on where you are located, your car may have taken a beating this winter with snow and salt! Below are some cleaning tips you can do to freshen up your ride!
Cleaning Tips:
- Remove Winter tires – If you live in an area of the country that requires these types of tires due to winter weather, make sure when the snow is gone you switch them out for all weather tires. Now is also a good time to have your tires rotated.
- Wash the exterior – This will help remove the layers of salt, dust, mud, etc that have accumulated over the winter season. Make sure you clean the windows, mirrors and tires too! You can even finish off with a wax that can help lengthen the quality of your clean. You might consider replacing your windshield wiper blades as well.
- Clean the inside – Remove any clutter that has accumulated like receipts, trash, etc. Your shoes have brought in all kinds of salt, dust, dirt etc. so vacuuming the floors will help remove this. Remove the floor mats and scrub with soap and water to remove dried mud or salt residue. Take the extra time to wipe off or vacuum seats as well.
- Clean the trunk – Over the winter, you may have stored many items in the truck area. Now is the time to remove everything, clean out your truck area and reorganize.
- Check fluids in your car – Lift the hood and make sure the water level and oil levels are good. Also, make sure you have plenty of windshield washer fluid.
- Check the undercarriage of your car - Check under your car to make sure that nothing has been damaged by winter weather. Sometimes snow or running over piles can dislodge parts of the undercarriage. Now that it’s warmer, perform a quick check and make any repairs if necessary.
